Welcome to Infocenter International, an excellent source for objectively
verified information, in this case about Mexico.
After almost 20 years of
hands-on experience in Mexico and, most importantly, close encounters with
thousands of Mexicans from all walks of life, we think it is high time to
demystify the topic, without any motivation or necessity to distort the
truth - our truth.
It is not our intention to slander, praise
or glorify! This website is meant to provide constructive criticism
or recognition of the Mexican Authorities, Business Communities and
the ordinary Mexican Citizen alike.
WHY? Simply because it
seems - to us - that Mexico is heading full speed down a one-way-street
directly to disaster.
Whichever way we look, nothing makes sense. There simply is no rhyme nor
reason, other than corruption and opportunism, from highest government
down to street level.
Benito Pablo Juarez Garcia
(1806-1872), Zapoteca Indian and son of poor farmers, Ex-President
of Mexico (1858-1872) is famous for his statement "Between
individuals and nations, the respect for the rights of others is the
foundation for peace", (original text:
Entre los
individuos, como entre las naciones, el respeto al derecho ajeno es
la paz).
Unfortunately, today, too many Mexicans seem to have never known,
forgotten or do not respect the rights of others.
This
shortcoming, together with the misinterpretation of "freedom of speech", a
freedom that should as well bear in mind the respect for the rights of
others, makes the social climate in Mexico almost unbearable, if not
impossible.
Predominantly, opportunism, based on
corruption and ignorance, is an advanced cancer in the Mexican
society and will bring it to its knees, if not dealt with swiftly,
efficiently and with a firm hand.
What makes things
rather difficult is the fact - so it seems - that most Mexicans want
a change, but they themselves are not willing to change; definitely
not if it brings with it any kind of inconvenience.
Before we continue,
it seems important to mention that our statements are generalised,
do not represent "official" statistics and leave ample room for
"exceptions to the rule".
